SEMIoTICS is a research project aiming to the efficient implementation of vision for the Internet of Things (IoT). The project will explore, among other topics, bio-inspired focal-plane sensing-processing models, in-pixel and off-array functionalities, and multilevel simulation of embedded vision systems. The analysis of feature classification and machine learning algorithms will be linked to their hardware implementation.
The project will also consider system-level aspects for successful system verification, integration, and validation. Two application scenarios of the developed techniques and prototypes will be examined: traffic monitoring and automatic on-site analytics of natural environments, with a focus on biodiversity.
